Coined the "flattest century in New Mexico," the TORGV runs from the Bernalillo County / Int'l Sunport Rail Runner Station located at 113 Rio Bravo SE, ABQ NM and continues south through Isleta Reservation, Los Lunas, Belen and loops around Bernardo, NM. The route runs parallel with the Rio Grande the entire length with beautiful views and sights of the more relaxed side of New Mexican life. The ride offers multiple distance points for riders of any caliber. Tandems ride for the price of one!
TORGV 2016 takes riders on scenic flat roads through the Rio Grande Valley. The long routes pass through Isleta, Los Lunas, Belen, Bernardo and return to Albuquerque.
Money raised from TORGV 2016 will fund BCNM staff and its successful bicycle education, promotion, and advocacy programs.
If you are a returning rider, the route is the same as 2015. From our after-ride poll 2015, we discovered some holes in coverage as well as where there was a bit of confusion. We are solidifying distances other than the Century, to and from Rest Stop 1 (39 Miles) and to and from Rest Stop 2 (62 Miles). 25 mile and 78 mile are being debated. If 78, there will be better signage than 2015.
Also, in regards to safety, there is a 500 rider sign-up limit.
TORGV is a premium New Mexico century. We feel that a ride should offer the very best refreshments for riders to keep their energy up and their health in check. Each rest stop will have the following: Clean filtered water, Gatorade made with clean filtered water, PB & J sandwiches, cut bananas, cut oranges and other goodies TBD.
Registration is $45. There will be a $10 late fee for registrations after September 19th -- $55 total. Perks include: Ride T-shirt, power bar and other goodies TBA!
You may register online till the 11:59 p.m. the 23th of Sept. Riders are welcome to register day of event (cash & credit card accepted). Please choose routes and distances within your capabilities and be prepared to make minor repairs. If you feel you can't make it back, use the Rail Runner to return to start location. See ride times here. SAGs, HAM radio, and support will be provided.
With any ride there is an amount of prep work that requires the help of wonderful people. If you are interested in volunteering, email abqcentury at bikenm dot org with "Volunteer" in the subject bar. There will be a need for people to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for sure, and that's an interest to everyone I know.
Again in 2016, we offer a custom TORGV cycling jersey designed by artist Michael O. Wieclaw AKA Metal The Brand , due to outstanding demand in 2014 and 2015.
Ordering jersey with registration through nmsportsonline.com will be available till Sept 5th. Voler, our cycling apparel partner, will still be selling these made-to-order garments even after the century! Once ordered, there are no refunds or exchanges. Double check your jersey size to make sure it is correct. This is a made to order garment--there is no stock to exchange from. Below is an example of 2015's TORGV jersey

Prior we had discussed implementing a time chip option with the ride; however, because this is a tour and not a race, we cannot offer it. We do encourage riders to find an app of choice to document their time and work to improve it!
