News - Trails Day Celebration Report

Report by Dan Baker

ok... way after the fact (October now!) I realized I had never posted the pictures I took of the Event... We all had a great time; riding bikes or taking the train, it was quite a day. I rode out and met my family in Lamy for the festivities, and then rode back. I was racing the Train actually, and we were neck and neck out to about Mile 9. Then I pulled away as the train stopped to unload some passengers; I was SO proud that I beat the train back to town, until I heard at the station that the train had actually broken down! ah well, another time I'll ask for a rematch.

So here they are! Click on any photo to see a larger version.

The start of our ride to the Station. Groups rode in from all over the city, some with Councilors in-tow! We left from Fire Station #4 and rode in on Old Pecos...

The crossing at Cerillos was well controlled by SFPD, Thanks!

Coucilor Pfefer was there, and rode his bike to Lamy! Shown here with two BCNM members mugging for the camera. ;)

Some people I met on the trail right by the crossing at Siringo.

The flowers at zia were spectacular!

Even some fairly young kids made a day of it, and rode all the way out.

We had a high-tech information booth in Lamy...

Kids, bikes, trains... what a fun day!
