Tim Rogers - Bicycle, Pedestrian, Equestrian (BPE) Programs Coordinator
Tim is our "main man" for advocacy issues involving state roads and forests. He does a great job keeping tabs on construction plans with respect to bike safety and pushes for things like shoulders, striping, and intersection safety. We are working closely with him to identify and prioritize construction and ReHab projects for both roads and trails.
If you have projects in your area that you are concerned about, or would like to suggest, PLEASE let us know first as you may have a topic we already have information on. We'd like to prevent multiple people asking him the same questions, AND we'd like to build a comprehensive list of your concerns so that we can have all the information in a central and public location.
tel. 505-827-0050 or email
The BPE dept. is also the keeper of a nice state-wide bike map showing major routes, and status of motorist volume and shoulder conditions... good for planning longer tours. You can request a print copy, or download a (big) file online at

County Contacts
In general, roads that are outside city limits, but not State roads, fall under the jurisdiction of the County. Unfortunately, their road budgets are usually pretty slim... which means that maintenance and repair happens only after a bunch of people start asking for it. So start asking for it! ;)
